Happy Kwanz-Hanu-Mas! (Seriously – that really should be on a postage stamp!)
Some holidays are weirder than others – and tomorrow is “weird” in the most wonderful way.
Tomorrow, Christmas, Hanukkah, and Kwanzaa all land on the same day.
While each holiday carries its distinct meaning and traditions, they also share powerful thematic commonalities that resonate universally—and remind us of the importance of communication in bringing us all together.
Light and Hope:
Each holiday celebrates the power of light. Christmas reminds us of the star guiding the wise men to find the baby Jesus, Hanukkah celebrations include commemoration of the miracle of the menorah burning for eight days, and Kwanzaa begins with the lighting of the kinara, symbolizing the seven principles of unity, self-determination, and faith.
Just as light pierces the darkness, our words can bring clarity and hope when shared with careful consideration and intention.
So tomorrow in particular, In every interaction, ask yourself: Is my message adding light to someone’s day?
Community and Togetherness:
All three holidays also emphasize the importance of gathering—whether around a tree, a menorah, or a kinara. They remind us to honor our shared humanity, lean into traditions, and uplift one another.
Great communication does the same: it builds bridges, fosters understanding, and strengthens bonds.
How can we better listen and speak to create spaces where everyone feels seen, heard and valued?
Reflection and Renewal:
The season invites us to reflect on the past year and renew our commitment to living with purpose.
Whether through gratitude, forgiveness, or goal-setting, our ability to articulate these intentions—internally and with others—determines their impact.
What conversations will you have to close this year with meaning and set the stage for a brighter 2025?
And – all three holidays are more secularly connected with gifts! Thank you for being part of this incredible community. Your support, insights, and presence are a true gift to me.
May this season brings you light, warmth, and a renewed sense of connection.
Speak to express love and connection.
What better way to speak to influence?
