How to Solve Your “First World” Problems

Overwhelm—it’s a common feeling that seems to hover in the air as the holidays approach.

For me, it hit this past weekend while starting preparations for Thanksgiving. While I love it, hosting nearly 30 people always feels like orchestrating a major event.

For starters, I bought not just one but TWO turkeys AND a ham, and squeezing them into the fridge alone was a challenge.

Then there’s pre-event house cleaning and post-event cleanup.

Plus, we’re hosting Thanksgiving one day for one side of the family, and doing another “Thanksgiving” on a second day for the other side of the family, which means two gluttonous days in a row. (“Hmm, I don’t remember putting these pants in the dryer, but they seem to have shrunk…”)

Add the fact that my son is home all week with no school, plus the urge to take advantage of Black Friday deal opportunities with Christmas looming … let’s just say, my waistband isn't the only thing feeling tight.

And of course all of this while trying to run a business.

But then, clarity struck: these are first-world problems—problems born of privilege, abundance, and opportunity.

I have a full fridge, the freedom and means to shop, and a wonderful family to cook for.

And let’s face it: of all the kinds of problems to have, aren’t these the BEST kind?

Brené Brown reminds us that the healthiest way to combat this kind of stress is through gratitude. It reframes the chaos and focuses us on what truly matters: health, safety, and loving connections.

And isn't gratitude what this weekend is supposed to be about in the first place?

Which brings me to all of you, my subscribers and clients. Your support and engagement are gifts I cherish.

To show my gratitude, I’m excited to share some special resources, exclusive opportunities, and valuable discounts with you this Thanksgiving week.
