Where do Your Craziest Ideas Come from?

Sometimes I look back on some of my concerns or choices over the years and wonder, “Who put that idea into my head?”

  • Maybe it’s questionable fashion choices or hairstyles from yearbooks past.
  • Or business decisions that I somehow rationalized putting off for way too long.
  • Or the Inner Critic telling me not to try something new because it looked like it would be too hard, or not to reach out to someone because  I assumed they wouldn’t want to talk to me for whatever reason.

When I’d rather laugh over it than stew over it, I blame it on Milquetoast the Cockroach.

One of my favorite comic strips back in the day was Bloom County, by Berkeley Breathed. He explained it so well:

Okay – now that we’ve identified the culpable voice of influence telling us to make all the dumb decisions, let’s intentionally take back the reins and start tuning in to the voices that want to help us be the best version of ourselves – and help others do the same.

Speaking of tuning into the right voices, I want to invite you to an event that can help you rethink one of the most misunderstood yet essential skills in today’s professional world: Networking.

This Wednesday, December 18th, I’m hosting a special LinkedIn Live with People Operations Executive Krystal Cooper:“From Connections to Offers: Mastering High-Impact Networking to Maximize Your Competitive Advantage.”

Whether you’re actively job hunting or just want to get better at building relationships, this session is for you—especially if you’ve ever told yourself that networking “just doesn’t work.”

The higher up you go, the more it’s the conversations behind the scenes that matter. How many of them are YOU involved in?

Krystal and I will go beyond the basics of networking and show you how to truly leverage your relationships to uncover hidden opportunities and land meaningful offers.

We’ll discuss why your current approach might not be working, and share actionable strategies to make networking both fruitful and fun—for everyone involved.

If you’re an executive looking for your next job opportunity and want to put everything you learn from the webinar into results-oriented action, the Quantum Leap Coaching Program was designed to help you rise above the competition and minimize your time between roles.

This program dives deep into personal branding, storytelling, high-impact networking, and negotiating, so you’re ready to show the best version of yourself every time it matters most.

If this sounds like something you—or someone you know—could benefit from, you can learn more at QuantumLeap-Coaching.com or just reply to this email to start the conversation.

Getting invited to those behind-the-scenes conversations is just the first step. Once you’re there, you need your words to land with impact if you want to land the right offer.

And speaking of what happens behind the scenes, in case you missed it, my new podcast mini-series, ALPHAWHISPERERS™: Genesis, co-hosted with visionary Janet C. Salazar, is now live!

This isn’t just another conversation about leadership. In this series, we explore the hidden dynamics of power and influence—the quiet forces shaping decisions at the highest levels of business and government.

Together, Janet and I shine a light on the role of the “Whisperers” in history—the trusted advisors behind the scenes who help leaders make pivotal decisions.

Our goal? To democratize decision making and redefine what it means to influence with integrity.

Whether you’re fascinated by the mechanics of influence or looking for inspiration to lead with purpose, you won’t want to miss this.

ALPHAWHISPERERS: Genesis is now available on the following platforms:

(While you’re there, don’t forget to subscribe, rate and share!)

And speaking of doing things behind the scenes, this is your last chance to donate anonymous gifts to children in foster care through the Adoption Center’s Amazon Wish List.

A single thoughtful gift can bring joy to a child who might otherwise go without this season.

They won’t know it was you, but you’ll know you made them feel loved.

Milquetoast might whisper crazy ideas, but there are plenty of other voices here that have your best interest at heart, and want to inspire and empower you to take that next leap forward.
